September was another busy month for us which saw nine beautiful brides in my chair. Autumn weddings have become so much more popular in recent years, which has resulted in a constant flow of bridal trials all year round.

12 months
12 months before your wedding day, you should be assessing your skin care regime while also getting into a healthy hair routine. Hair is equally as important as it can get dehydrated from exposure to certain atmospheres. We recommend meeting with your bridal stylist a minimum of 12months before your wedding to discuss the condition of your hair and get advice on a maintenance program. Every bride wants shiny luscious locks for their special day. The next thing to discuss is your chosen hair colour for the day. If you require a hair colour change this may take months of gradually and gently bringing up shades, so you will need to start early. Finally we will find out your desired hair length and volume required for a particular style. There are so many beautiful hair extensions available, we love to work with and style the Mel Marie’s which are available in both our salons.
6 months/3months
At this stage we advise to book in for a hair appointment and book your hair trial. The trial should ideally be the same day of your makeup trial and dress fitting, so you can see your total finished look together. We keep a stock of hair pieces for our bridal trials to try on and get a feel for what they may like. For best results, wash your hair the night before and leave in its natural state ie; don’t straighten or curl. Bring any headpiece you may be planning on wearing, a picture of your dress so we can see the neckline and any images of hairstyles you like.
My final tip is when picking what you would like done with your hair, consider options that you will be comfortable in. Family and friends will give their opinions but if you don’t wear your hair up as a guest to a wedding because you feel more confident wearing it down, realistically you will also not feel comfortable wearing it up as a bride. Decide on styles which make you feel amazing and comfortable in your own skin.
